In line with our ongoing engagement, work has been continuing to develop the best possible proposal in response to the consultation feedback we received last summer. As a result, and through further design development and environmental assessment, we’ve identified a series of changes to the scheme. We are running a supplementary consultation on these changes to gather feedback from the local population and key stakeholders.
The supplementary consultation will run between 24 June -28 July 2020 and will provide an opportunity for you to feedback on the proposed changes. Our detailed consultation booklet and map books describe all of the changes we have made and will be seeking views on as part of the consultation. These materials will be available on our website and as hard copies on request.
These changes are a combination of refinements to the design, methods of construction and changes to the use and extent of the land we need to build, maintain and operate the road. The changes proposed will help maximise environmental benefits and minimise the impact of the scheme on people and the environment. This, for example, includes the reduction of construction traffic and measures to improve access for a number of local businesses and landowners.
The supplementary consultation will be supported by a virtual consultation room which will be available on the A428 webpage from the start of the consultation.
The virtual consultation room emulates a traditional event but allows users to access all the scheme documentation and plans for free, anytime and anywhere and leave their feedback.
The virtual consultation room also provides a live chat function, through which we will run two targeted four hour sessions to allow the public to ask questions. Two four hour telephone engagement sessions will also be available for participants who would prefer to engage with us on the phone or do not have access to the internet. All parties will be able to request USB and paper copy documents to be sent to them in the post.
